The exception for Zone 12 (Ottawa River) uses a lighthouse to define the boundaries of a fish sanctuary:
Lac des Chats (Ottawa River), Madawaska River and Mississippi
River - including waters of the Madawaska River downstream from
the Arnprior Generating Station, Ottawa River from Dochart Creek
to the lighthouse (45°27’03â€N., 76°21’02â€W.) and then east following
the inter-provincial boundary to the south end of the CNR bridge
at Lavergne Point - West Carleton Twp., and the Mississippi River
downstream from the Generating Station at the town of Galetta.
Can somebody describe to me where this lighthouse is?
The lighthouse they are refering to is straight across from the Arnprior warf better know as the Robert Simpson Park. It is in the middle of the river between Ontario and Quebec. Just up from there is Dockart Creek. This is the area that is now closed towards Chats Falls GS.
if you launch your boat from buchams go around the horn and you will see a horseshoe type bay skip that and go into a channel it sould be 100 feet or so then you will see the fist one but if you keep going there is a second one with a great view over the river
Some of the landmarks the fishy reg. book refers to can be tricky unless your very fimilar with the area. So everything east of dochart creek to about fitzroy harbour is a fish sanctuary right? (ontario side of river) I take it that it is alright to fish west of dochart creek like around old gillis mill, old orchard, and red pine bay?
You're right, west of dochart creek is not in the fish sanctuary. I'm not so sure of the east-side boundary though. I'll just fish the west side until the sanctuary opens up
I know this isn't a timely reply...lol But from the description and there being only one CNR bridge between arnprior and ottawa it would appear that the Morris island aree is not part of the fish sanctuary. Thoughts?
I just found this nautical chart online seems to point pretty clearly to MICA being fishable if anyone is out that way http://fishing-app.gpsnauticalcharts.co ... 9/-76.2879
