My first ever muskie.. but no monster

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

My first ever muskie.. but no monster

Post by SkeeterJohn »

Well i've finally managed to get one at last... Only 30" but a nice fish and a memorable one for me.

Thanks to HawgWobbler(dave) for some tips.. looks like i was listening and they paid off !

I tried so hard last year with little success but i'm treating that as a learning period. Muskie was the reason i found myself on Fish-hawk.net and seeing those huge fish made me change from fishing just for carp. Now i fish for many more species and i've met a lot of great people on here that i know call good friends.

Things can only get better.. next a 40"+ and then a 50"+ :D :D :D

and yes that's the 416 bridge but it wasn't caught underneath it

Nope but pound for pound it fought better than any pike. We all know there's bigger and that'll be the target for the rest of the year.

Heck i'm just glad i finally had one.

Nice fish Jihn! Congrats on the first Muskie!

My son missed his first Muskie on our holidays  Lokked to be a good 45" plus!!! Were were in a paddle boat at the time  Shoulda seen his face when it broke water!! Managed to spit his jig! As I told him though, just as well. We FORGOT the bloody camera at home anyway!

I did manage a 42 " myself....They are a treat to catch let me tell ya!

Much like your Carp no doubt!

Excellent catch, I still havent come close. I am planning on going up to Lake Cecebe near Burks Falls for some bass and pike on Thursday.
I dont think the lake hold muskies so I will just go for my personal best with pike.

Congrat though, it truly is an awesome fish.
