Stockin a Pond

Looking for information on stockin a pond with some trout, going to Google it but wondering if anyone has any firsthand information.

I quite literally just got off of the phone with the MNR today about a very similar topic.
In the MNR regs, you would need a special permit/licence to transport fish alive (for any reason) across bodies of water. That even includes between sections of the Rideau, for example, where there's a barrier (lock!) between the sections.
Sad but true.
In your case, stocking would be permitted if you obtain the proper permits. Call the MNR to find out how to obtain one.

Biggest thing I learned from a few years ago is that if there is any streams etc coming in and out of the pond then you can not stock it. It must be locked in from any other body of water. If it is self contained I dont think you need any permits to stock it but you will need them to get the fish to the pond.

Again as Curls said check with MNR cause things change more often then I change my undies there.

Another factor is if it's a private pond or a public one. Private, ie. no public access ponds are a bit easier than ones that have public access. If private a good business plan will also work wonders when trying to obtain permits. Obtaining a good management plan by a reputable Pond Manager will also do wonders. Much more popular and prolific information can be found on sites from the USA (it's much more common there).
