A trip for crappie this week with Doug, but the Crappie were NOT where they were earlier. 3 hotspots checked with zero fish. Seems that the cold rain, cloud and falling temps pushed them out of the shallows.
Eventually our persistence paid a dividend, as we finally found them again. They were in deeper water, and were strongly relating to a submerged weed bed from last year. Catching was fast and furious, a cloud would come, bite turned off. Sun breaks again, and back on the bite. Somewhere around 35 caught, 22 or so eaters came back for dinner.
Ya can't hide forever - Doug w/ another one
Good times!!

It's not every day that a fellow drives a couple hundred miles for crappies............
But they were on the menu here last night, first feed of fresh crappies for the year, yum yum!
Len, you forgot to mention I took off my snowmobile suit for the picture...............

Looks like ya trimmed a little Doug. Less beard, less chance of sailing away in a strong wind.
Good fishing.

Semi-annual shearing, get it done at Easter and Christmas whether it needs it or not............Moosebunk wrote:Looks like ya trimmed a little Doug. Less beard, less chance of sailing away in a strong wind.
