Soo Fishing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Soo Fishing

Post by Wencz »

Headed up to the Soo to visit my girlfriend's family a few weeks ago. While we were there we spent 4 nights at Agawa Beach campground in Lake Superior Provincial Park, and I got a chance to fish a couple of days on Lake Mijinemungshing (Mij) out of the canoe (she did most of the paddling so I could fish ... what a woman!). Lost a few and got skunked the first day, but hooked into a few small Lakers the next (I thought they were Specks until my learned local advised me otherwise ... forked tail) ... my first ... delicious.

A few days after returning from the park, a friend took me to a tiny, remote lake near Searchmont to do some crazy smallmouth fishing. We probably caught about 10 in the 3-4 lbs range that morning... and got to see a huge black bear crash into the woods from the water as we were returning to shore.

I feel like I've just scratched the surface of what the area has to offer ...
