Water levels in Dow's Lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I'm not speaking from experience but doesn't the water get real turbid when they refill the canal. I would think that it would take many days for all that sediment to settle down and then the fish would start to move in. Maybe with carp it doesn't matter as they can handle it.
Have fun out there with your kids. Cheers

Man I was hoping hogs back falls would be half decent, I need a spot to go for walleye opener this saturday!!! Anyone have any ideas? I know pretty much all of the spots in Ottawa to go, and they are crazy flooded with muddy water. Maybe billings/brewer park area? Never really have much luck there on opener though...

I figured by Saturday it might be all right, but that might just be wishful thinking.

I drove the canal from Rideau center up to the Hog's Back lock last night.

Water levels are up.

However, ALOT and I mean ALOT of GARBAGE floating from this winter...

Near Frank Clair stadium it was just rife with plastic bottles and other garbage in the small bay by the island.

I saw some jumpers (fish) near the old stone bridge (cannot remember the name of that bridge).

Anyhow, if the "Honey-do" list gets majorly dented this weekend I plan to be out for carp on Sunday aft.

Folks are welcome to join.

Interested yes... But my life expectancy and quality of my home life would likely deteriorate significantly If i tried to fish on Mothers day :)

I usually give it a week or two to settle before the bite picks up.
