Looking for a Flasher

Anybody got a flasher for sale? Upgrading and getting rid of your old one? My father-in-law is looking for a used one. Thought we'd try on here before he dropped $600 on a new one!

I am not selling mine, but I bought and REALLY like my Marcum LX7. As you may recall, I am an old fart and a lot of the new technology confuses me. This flasher is very intuitive and MAN!!! is it sensitive.

So if you don't find a used unit, you might want to tell your FIL that another older guys suggested the LX7.

Thanks for the advice Doug, much appreciated. Just got a line on a used Vexilar, gonna go take a look at it. But, funny you say that, when he was checking them out online, he liked the looks of the Marcum's.

They are out there on Dog for sure. But the bite is slowing down, but biting light, lots of taps and missed fish......and stolen minnows!

I saw an Ice-55 for sale on UsedOttawa.

Buy a used Vex, use it for a few years and sell it if ya want. You'll lose at the most 50 bucks on it. They hold their value like no other unit.

I just bought my first Vex, courtesy of Big-O. Only used it once but looking forward to trying it out more in the near future. Saturday and Sunday are looking good so far.

you want a good unit, get the Marcum LX 7 or LX5.
I have the LX7 and it's awesome.
i bought the open water transducer and use it in my boat as well.
i'd buy that before a vex

I have had an Ice-45 and 2 FL-8's.

I gave one of the FL-8's to Canmoore for his birthday a few years back.

I use the FL-8 and for me its all I need. I'd love to have the $$$ to upgrade to the dual one with a fish cam. Now that would be BOSS!

I had a Vex and found it confusing to use. (I am an old fart and also a technophobe).

The Marcum LX7 is a great unit and moreover is easy to use.

Yep.

Kids grow up with this kind of stuff now. I was already in university when the very first hand-held calculators were available, at a cost of six hundred bucks. That same machine today (ie one with similar capabilities) would cost less than ten bucks. Same thing goes for most electronics. And in my own case, the Vex was not particularly intuitive, but the Marcum is.

I'd have to agree with RJ.....

I have had the Hummingbird and the Vex and quite honestly they operate the same.....

The bar going up and down is your lure....red bar near lure=fish......

Not sure why you'd have found the vex more difficult than a marcum?

Curious though....

Dodge - Ford - GM

They all work well, and guys will always have their preference.
FInd a good deal on either and you will wind up a happy man

There is only a Hummingbird ice 55 for $430 on Kijiji (Ottawa) at the moment.

Another option is to go with a fish finder that has ice fishing mode on it. I use a hummingbird fish finder that I use in summer time and then I bought a transducer for it to use with the ice fishing mode that it has on it. It works very well and saves having to buy a separate unit for each season.
