First ICE

Well the time finally came to get the gang together and hit first ice - Bassassins and Capt. John D together again!!! WOOT WOOT







As you all know there is very little safe ice in Ottawa right now so we stuck to old faithful and pounded on same pan fish all day...













Crappie, Gills and a little dink SPike on the tip up... John hammered us in size and quantity today but I think he had home field advantage?! A 50+ fish day for the gang, busted out the inner little kid and got the ice ball rolling. Next week is a new adventure and can't wait to see what it brings....

Yous city slickars gone flewed the coup and made a big ole mess of things. Piles and piles of fish need be shovelled off that der thin ice now, before the herds of cattle go grazing to their deaths.

Totally understand what you mean Bunk - a warning to all of those heading out - Tuesday we found 3 1/2inches which 10ft further (where there was a hole from the night before) the spud went through first hit as we made our way towards it. Then yesterday we found 4 1/2 inches of crap ice that this weather today will mess up even more. RJ said something like this on FB and we agree --- it cant be stressed enough just becase we found a few spots to stand on dont think your ice or even our same area is safe. Today will do crazy things to already unstable conditions... Be safe!
