31 Mile Lake Whitefish

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I'm glad you guys are having fun with this lol.
It looks like the Amigos will be OK this year. Thanks to slop for the contact. I talked to Sebastien Ratte and he said there are no plans for this year to close the ice fishing on 31 Mile. He wouldn't comment on next year though so hammer away guys while you can and don't forget your pails lol.

Cheers

Been everywhere from the North to the South end of lac trente et un mille in boat and on machine. Surprised to have never seen the Amigos out there :o 95% of the people I've met and seen on the ice here have been a member of Fish-Hawk. Tough fish to trigger sometimes those whities...

Last trip Keith and I covered east and west shorelines on the sleds from mid lake to the north not just to fish, but to search for new areas and find other holes. Couldn't count how many more spots had traces of fishermen left behind or, people still fishing... surprisingly quite alot once you get out of that one bay and actually go on tour. It is a big lake for sure, they are a tight lipped fish best of times too, but it does at times take more pressure than I initially thought. Other times out there it's been so quiet deer (or even a wolf) have crossed our paths probably not expecting humans around. Many American's on the lake owning cottages I'm told, but one retired Ontario fella living year round, was by to talk with us and complain about the poorer fishing last winter. Lakes can have tough fishing years...

Beautiful playground no question. Fishing whiteys... OK... has it's good days and bad. Likely won't see pressure from me and friends this coming year. But lets not talk too much about ice fishing yet guys.

The only thing I can add to this thread is it should be titled "31 Mile Lake, Lake Trout".

Hehe good one Rob. More Greys often get hooked while ice fishing for Whities. They inhabit the same structures in the winter. It has to hurt the population big time.
Look how much better Charleston is now since they canned ice fishing. I wasn't happy at the time because I used to really enjoy our winter jaunts out there, but it was a great move for the Laker fishery in the long run.

Cheers
