Ottawa Valley South BassMasters

Post by ShawnD »

Well this past Sunday marked my first ever OVSB tournament and I had a blast!
Fished with a long time member Chuck Hamilton, awesome guy.

If any of you ever thought of joining in, it really is a friendly environment among some of Sharks..

I started the day fishing my strenght, rocks and craws, casting dragging and casting some more.
First cast, no prefish, 4 pounder in the boat... :D

The day went on and by 10 am we had a good bag, 12 pounds but having seen videos and past results we figured we had some upgrading to do.
By 4 it was time to weigh-in, we missed a nice one and figured we would have a average weight, 13.6lbs which too our surprise was enough to win !
So there ya go, won my first tournament, Playstation Chuck was a great team mate and I'm looking forward to my next event with the guys.

Keep those hooks sharp!!

Hey Shawn, good job -- Chuck is a great guy -- fished with him a few times as well. You even managed to beat Charles Sims and his partner, who finished 2nd. My partner for the day Frank and I came in 5th -- just one pound behind you guys.
There were a total of 4 boats with 13lbs, 4 with 12lbs, and the remaining 4 had either 11 or 10. Not bad considering the day before there was a tournament on the lake with 30 boats and their winning bag was 15lbs.

It shure great bunch of guys on the OVSB circuit and I also have a blast fishing my first tournament of the series. I caught lots of bass just couldn't get the 4 lbs plus to bite but we finish with a weight in over 12 lbs. Now I cant wait for the next tourny on White Lake.

Well done Shawn, I like the format of that series. It's different but seems to work.

Good Luck the rest of the year!
