This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Hey folks
Just moved to Ottawa from Thunder Bay. I typically fish for walley and trout but will hook into anything. I would greatly appreciate a few locations (not exact) to start off.

Welcome aboard fish_on. May sound like a dumb answer but try the Ottawa River for good fishing. No trout but everything else is in it. As for trout try the backroads map book for many a spot. Good luck to you

The Champlain Run Trout Club stocks brown trout in the Ottawa R. yearly. For more details check out http://www.greendrake.com and click on the "Conservation" link.

I am surprised that there isnt more trout in this river or more trout that is stocked.... one would think that in the olden days i.e. back in the 1700-1800's there would have been plenty of trout in this river?

OH....BTW... welcome aboard Fish_on!!! and yes... check out the back roads map book and head out to a stocked trout lake. I hope you dont get too dissapointed at the quality of walleye fishing here compared to back home

Hi and Welcome.
Unfortunately it is not a good area for trouts. (as far as I know I am new in Canada / Ottawa but I did investigate)
Except the brown trouts close to Champlain bridge, you will need to dive a bit to find some.

For walley send me a PM and I can give you one or two spots.
If you prefer we can also meet and go a session one afternoon (except if weather is too cold or too windy).

BTW how do you fish trout ? Fly ?
It's not over until it's over.
