Fish-Hawk trip report published in magazine

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fish-Hawk trip report published in magazine

Post by RobM »

I wrote a report this summer on my canoe trip in northern Quebec. The report I wrote was only intended to be seen on fish-hawk, but I was asked if it could be included in the next issue of Bounder magazine (a free local magazine directed towards men). Of course I said "Sure!" and the next thing you know, it is in full colour glossy print. It is included in the October issue which was released this week.

Here is a link to the original report.

http://www.fish-hawk.net/hawktalk/viewtopic.php?t=40775

The article contains the original trip report, slightly edited and shortened for the magazine.

You can read the online version of the magazine here: http://content.yudu.com/Library/A1pn81/ ... 10-Edition

The article starts on page 26. We made sure fish-hawk.net was mentioned in the article (with Bobber's permission).

Agreed, I also am interested in this magazine. Not often am I interested in virtually every article... Is there a print/mail sub option?

Congrats on the article!!

As to the pike question I don't believe large ones school. It's more like perfect conditions pull them to same spot....like a dinner bell. Once they know there is food in one spot they all gather around and biggest ones get the best spot on the table. You see that down south in the ocean with currents and choke points too.

Yes, I remember this post! I especially remember the part about the cree man with the sturgeon.

They didn't use my favourite photo though... the one where the pike is eating the folding chair!!! ha ha ha

Congrats on the publication!

Good stuff Rob! I knew that story was inspiring to me... and without a doubt inspiring to many more now!

I hope to have something similar come next spring!

I just got back from RBC in Rockland and there was a display with a few copies of Bounder available so I picked one up. Can't wait to read the article again!

Thank you for the kind words gentlemen. I was surprised when they offered to run with it. As I said, I only wrote it for fish-hawk. And quite frankly, I only spent an hour or so writing the original report.

highlander: I suggest emailing them your question. They will likely help you locate a copy. There is a "contact us" link on their website.

A couple of friends and I are throwing around ideas for a similar trip next year. If we go, I will post a report.
