An afternoon carpin' (Just to mix things up)
Hey Folks,
Been seeing lots of bass/muskie reports so i thought I'd chime in with a little diversity.
I had a couple hours this afternoon so a buddy and I set up the bank poles and tried for a few bugle-mouth bass.
We work a back eddy where they tend to stack up. We only had three pick-ups but all quality fish. Ended up going 1 for 3 with the hooks pulling out on two other fish during the second or third line screaming run.
One of the most exciting moments came when my fishing partner picks up his camera to take a picture of a duck... ... and suddenly his St. Croix takes off and I barely recover it (Getting completely drenched in the process)... it's just too bad I lost that fish...
Here's the one that I managed to coax to the bank. Just a hair over 33".
Whole-kernel corn was the ticket on a hair rig in 15-18 feet.
Get out carpin' folks you don't need a whole bunch of fancy tackle (but it may keep you from having to dive in after a rod that doesn't have it's draag set right...)
Here's my rig, standard 6'6" MH spinning rod...
Keep the reports coming folks, there have been some great ones as of late.
Matt

Way-2-go ... Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see something different for a change.
Did you manage to get a weight on this guy?
So your buddy decided to take a picture of a duck while fishing....Hmmmm, were you fishing with BA by chance ...

Hey matt ... thats a really big fish ... so what the fight like with a carp? I've never caught one ... it sound slike they will give you a pretty good fight.
I'm wondering because if you can catch them like the one in the pic and they give a good fight, why isn't more people fishing them ? Or are there a lot ?
thanks
