Jock River boat launch?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Jock River boat launch?

Post by esox50 »

Hi all,

Looking to utilize the Jock for part of our muskie C&R project. Any places with decent boat launches? The MNR has launched their boats in the past so I'd assume it could accommodate decent sized boats. I'm using a 19.5' Lowe Roughneck (jonboat), which is surprisingly maneuverable.

If not, are there other areas where one could drop a car topper in (have access to that too)? Email me if you'd prefer not to publicly give out details to a put in: slandsma@connect.carleton.ca

south on eagleson rd.,hit the bridge on the river and turn left when you cross it,not much of a launch,but works.

Sean

There is a spot you can drive right up to the water. I haven't used this spot in a while so can't speak of it's condition.

Hey I haven't taken out the RED ROCKET this year so I would be more than happy to help out.

Send me an email if you need directions or help. I used to fish the Jock very often and know it well.

Other locations to launch a boat include;

> right in town at the park. Go south on McBean, cross bridge, turn left and another left again into the park. You can drive right up to the river.

This location will get you above the small the small dam and below the rapids upstream of the bridge. Haven't seen any musky there this year but did last year.

There is another place to launch west of Richmond, where the river gets to be about 12' deep.

and I know of another spot to launch downstream of Eagleson but you may as well launch right at eagleson to access the river from there.

I noticed a huge algae bloom in the river, not sure if this rain will have washed it away.
