We just returned home from our annual White Lake vacation. Much better than last years disaster - motor died on day 1 and a tree limb falling through the new bed cover on my truck.
Fishing started a little slow, but once the fish got adjusted to the record high temps, we had great fishing. Typical WL - Nothing big - only 2 fish over the 4 lb mark for the week and a bunch in the 3 lb+ range. A few were SM, and the fight was incredible.
With my wife and son in the boat, we had a few outtings with 30 - 40 fish. My uncle and cousin could fish a little more agressively and had some outtings with 50 - 60 fish.
If you want your kids to have fun, let them toss a 3 inch senko on a wacky jig head. The hot pink/bubble gum color will catch anything that swims but my son also caught bass, pike, perch, rock bass and big sunfish on other colors. The hot pink looks a little odd, but it attracts fish and that's all that matters for kids.
Add in the otter, osprey and eagle sitings plus lots of laughs in the boat and we had a great week.
