Plan B was in full swing and had Anthony and I packing our bags and scouring maps last minute Friday. The work was finished and what seemed like the longest move ever finally ended on what had to be trout opening day. You don't have to ask me what was in the back of my mind all day. We drove up to the cottage late that night. Only stop on the was at the Metro in Fort-Coulonge for dinner and worms. Got there right on the button.
Anthony passed out watching hockey. I couldn't sleep..yea right. Too many rigs to tie...trout fever. Debated to myself even pulling an all nighter and fishing cafish by the fire. Ringer was set for 4:30. We wanted to be on the trail at 5:15, if everything goes well we were to be on the lake for sun-up. What a kick in the face when the alarm went off. We were just exhausted. I knew what time it was but don't think Jig Head did lol. It was a beautiful morning. The trail was dry and made for a nice hike in....
Got to the lake and was happy to see we were the first ones up there. No chance of a quad getting up there, must be a full day of clearing the trail of fallen trees.
First fish of the day.
Second fish ..
Third Fish...
The bite was on. Fish were rising all around the lake...couldn't catch them though. That morning we hooked and landed some very nice specs...all footballs. I shook a bunch of smaller fish(That were still not so small) boatside and in the net for quick release. Anthony's fish were all big. I took pictures of the surroundings and all of Anthonys fish
That tree still has two nice specs swimming around it. One fish I had on wrapped me up in the branches. Jiggy had another swipe at his bait right at the boat.
There was a small bay on my radar all day that had brook trout written all over it. Paddled in slow while Jig Head was working his rig slowly on the bottom. He said ''I got another one''
Jig Heads PB spec, 20.5'' - 4lbs+
And some other pictures from the day...
