New From Kistler Rods for 2010 - Micro Guides and Z-Bone

Post by JustinHoffman »

Hello All,

Just wanted to pass on some exciting news from the Kistler rod camp...

New for 2010 is micro guide technology! These will be available on 7 models of Magnesium rods for this year. Or, any Kistler rod can be shipped to the company to have these installed. Here is the info on this breakthrough:

Lighter Weight! Yes, MICRO guides weigh one 1/4 ounce less than conventional guides. That's a worm weight lighter! Lighter rods will enhance your fishing experience.

Transmits more vibration! Yes, because of the reduced mass in the frames, you will feel more bites as rod vibrates more due to the overall decreased weight and mass of guides.

Less tangles or damages! Yes, because of the tiny size, anglers will enjoy a hassle free day of fishing when you compare it to the typical tangled mess of rods or crushed rings we all are used to. No more problems with big feet or rod locker damage.

Longer casts! We have tested all line including the types with the most memory such as Gamma 17lb fluorocarbon line as well as Sugoi 25 lb floro and proved it true when compared to conventional guides. All lines including braided lines up to 65 lb fly right through these guides effortlessly.

Fewer backlashes! Because the typical 'line slap' from conventional guides is eliminated, anglers will experience almost no casting backlashes due to the 'taming' of the line by the micro rings.

Less rod breakage! No more guide frame torque which sometimes causes blank twisting failure due to conventional guides which are larger framed.

Proven Technology, kept secret! Japan rod makers and US custom rod builders have proven this micro guide set up over the past 20 years. Kistler Rods is the first to make it available to the public with an affordable stock model.

By integrating our proprietary carbon fibers with multiple modulus graphite, we have created a method of expanding the graphite wall thickness by 25% during production. The Magnesium rods are truly now 25% stronger than any other comparable rod on the market today and provide the perfect actions for your favorite fishing applications. FUJI reel seats and our original cork split-grip handle and no-fore-grip design provides maximum blank exposure for extreme sensitivity and increased vibration detection. Only the best FUJI micro guides provide durable and sensitive performance for your extreme angling experiences. Our original open hook hanger design allows for quick and convenient hook storage, even without removing the bait or dulling your hook point!

I've got a good selection of the Micros as well as a great selection of other Kistlers in stock at Paddletales.

I gotta ask how smaller guides result in longer casts...? Not saying it's not true, but it's the polar opposite of what surf fishermen have been saying for years...

Eli: The surf casters are using humgoid (that's really big) spinning reels with likewise huge spools. The line makes a big loop coming off the reel. If the guides are too small, the line rubs against them creating friction and shortening the cast. Conversly, the microguides are on baitcasting rods where the line doesn't make the big loops coming off the spool. The small guides help reduce line slap and thus longer casts.
