Where to put my ice shack this year?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Where to put my ice shack this year?

Post by BOOTHEAD »

I put my shack out at petrie last year, but am looking for a place where i am less likely to catch a VD from eating the fish... I hear shirleys bay's not bad but am wondering where else would be a good option to set myself up at... anybody have any ideas..?

Dude, if you're getting VD from fish you're doing something very wrong. :?

TroutnMuskieHunter... I am pretty sure you can only catch it from Ottawa downward in the River... I test after each fish fry and all is good!

I don't know about you guys and your fishing experience at Petrie but it's not uncommon to have garbage floating by. i even had a domer float up while ice fishing in walleye bay once.... I figure if I get north-west of greens creek the water will be a little cleaner, just looking for a good spot with a short drive to call home base this winter... thinking shirleys, just wish there was a bait place close by. Can't beat the convenience at petrie for that reason.... but am disturbed at the way untreated waste water and sewage often finds its way up my hole.

Shirleys is pretty good and usually driveable with a 4x4. Lots of small eyes.

Shirley's Bay

Post by CCLad »

Shirley's is a good spot. Although that said, our number's have dropped in consecutive years....But it is fishing, not catching. If you don't know about the ice in this area of the river, feel free to PM me. I check in here once in a while... Ice is good except for a few places (Well out)
