Large Mouth Report (with Video)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Large Mouth Report (with Video)

Post by bl8ant »

Hit a local lake with a buddy for largies on Saturday. The shallows weren't producing so we moved out to a few main lake weed flats. Water temps were 64-65 in the back bays and 69-70 on the flats. Not sure if this played a part or not.

Most of our time was spent fishing the weedbeds 7-12 feet deep mainly on wacky rigged Berkley Powerbait Heavyweights on a weightless weed guarded hook.

Hits were really soft but we managed to boat 15-20 bass, most like this guy being lipped

But some bigger ones like this one

This guy was a football at 3lbs 5oz

Best fish was this 4 pounder (I say 4 pounder but the scale read 3lbs 15 3/4 oz :).

Here is a video of the release. He was caught on 8lbs line so he was pretty beat, watch till the end of the video though....he was okay!

I almost lose it at the end of the video when I think I hadn't recorded his fish. haha

Here is a pike I caught in the same lake the weekend prior. My scale died, and I have never weighed a pike. Any guesses for the weight? between 7.5-9 I figure.

Hi bl8ant.

You and your buddy nabbed some really quality fish. It's been the summer of the bass, it seems.

That pike's a beauty, too.
