Pa boys invading Canada

Gentleman,
Myself and my crew of fellow fisheman are heading up to Centennial Lake and Calabogie to fish for 8 days. This is our annual trip.

Heard fishing has been going well....any updated info on "hot" spots or rigs would be appreciated.

Have not fished centenial this year , so can't really say, but....

Good luck getting hot spots from anyone after your 9th post

Also making reference to a group of americans comming over the border to invade one of our natural resources probably won't gain to much popularity here or on just about any ontario based fishing forum.

A few tips

If you were planing on taking beer out in the boats with you, don't. The OPP regularly patrol the Centenial Lake / Madawaska water system. Not sure what the rules are in your state but here, you lose your driver's license if caught operating a boat impaired, not just your boating priviledge.

Bring lots of money and buy everything you can locally.

Good advice, speaking from expirence, don't even think about beer in the boat, you will be caught and there is zero tolerence for that, nothing good can come of it. Otherwise have a blast and catch lots of fish, wish I was goin with, I got a fever and the only perscription is more Canada! LOL Joe.

That's true about the coppers out on the water... I've seen them out a lot on the Bogie. Haven't been stopped though... ?

Good luck lads... Grassy Bay is where I've been picking up my walleye the last 2 weeks... same with the bay near the village/ boat launch/ tourist info. The far end has just been dead lately... which is unusual.

Hey Josh,

Those 2 bodies of water are on my short list as well to hit. I don't have any particular "hot spots", but I do have a map of Calabogie that may give you an idea of where you can start to try.

you mentioned beer and boats...does this pertain to just the operator?
In PA..there are regulations on the operator but not on other people on the boat..meaning they can drink but the operator cannot.

Please advise-

The invasion statement wasn't intended to offend...if anything we have a great appreciation for Canadian waters and its fisheries.

Applies to all in the boat. fines are different for operator versus passengers.

as of DEC 30 2006

Under the new amendments, the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario also now authorizes marine police to suspend your driver's licence for 12 hours if you blow between 50 and 80 mgs in 100 ml of blood, that is under the legal limit. If you blow over 80 mgs, your licence will be suspended immediately for 90 days.
The latest amendments add to provincial laws that already restrict the combination of boats and booze. Under the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario it is an offence to consume alcohol in a moving boat (including sailboats and canoes) unless a licence or permit allows you to do so. Without a licence or permit, you cannot consume alcohol on a boat even if it's stationary unless the boat is a "private place".
For a boat to be considered a "private place" it must have permanent sleeping accommodation and permanent cooking and sanitary facilities. It also must be at anchor or secured to a dock or land and the public must not be invited or be permitted access to it.
Further, unless you have a licence or permit, it is illegal to carry alcohol on a boat unless it is sealed or stowed in a closed container.

In summary:
a) It illegal to consume alcohol in a moving boat.
b) It is illegal to consume alcohol in a boat unless it is also a residence.
c) It is legal to carry alcohol on boat as long as it either sealed or stowed
away in a closed container.
d) It is illegal to operate a motor boat while impaired on alcohol. Federal
criminal code penalties apply.
e) Ontario Highway Traffic Act penalties for a federal conviction for
operating a boat while impaired do not apply.

The 12 hour suspension became a 3 day suspension effective May 1.
