Cats on the Ottawa (West)?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Cats on the Ottawa (West)?

Post by Troller »

Hi all,
My son is having a couple of boys from Finland that he met through hockey coming over to visit. They are interested in catching catfish. I would like to take them out when they are here. I have a boat moored near Dunrobin on the Ottawa. Can anyone help me with info catching some catfish in that area of the river? I can also travel some distance on the water between Shirley's Bay and Fitzroy. This will be happening in early July. I know some good areas for other types of fish but the catfish seems to ellude me for the most part. Apparently, in Finland they catch monster pike.
Thanks
PM me if you like,
Dave

The entire stretch is loaded with cats, if you use worms or minnows in 10 to 30ft of water on or near the bottom you should not have any problem, anywhere on that stretch.

18 FOW seems to be the ticket out there for me....I usually run right up to Aylmer Island and drift back towards the city with the prevailing wind....
