Boat Insurance RANT

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Almonte,

I am not a broker, but I am an Insurance Agent. I work for an insurance company which provides Account Receivable Insurance, Non Recourse Factoring, Commercial Collections and Credit Intelligence. We bascially provide the security that Businesses and Manufacturers need to trade safely. As one can imagine, in this economy...we are getting our butts kicked!

Brutal!

Really? Wow. That would tick me off.

But wouldn't you have to come in and sign a new policy for the new company? Plus since your money is now going to another company your direct deposit from your bank would need to be changed. They can't change that without your approval.

Not that I don't believe you, but I am going to ask the wife about this when I get home. I don't understand how they can be doing this without notifying people.

I've been notified that they switched from a to b. It's what i expect the broker to be doing... finding the best deal for me, not just the lowest rate, but the "best" overall package.

It doesn't happen often, maybe once or twice that I can remember, but I definitely remember it happening.

I have ALL of my insurance with one broker, and this not only saves time but also saves me money, since this broker gives discounts for multiple policies (house, car, truck, boat etc etc).

But if I was shopping, I would surely check out the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) affiliated insurance broker, assuming you are an OFAH member. That brokerage (Allen's Insurance, or similar) did give me coverage on a hunt camp that my insurance company at that time would NOT insure. I also formerly owned snowmobiles, and the best insurance I found in those years was again through the OFAH affiliated insirance broker.

Good luck to you!

Hey Hookup, I feel your pain. I have a 1973 Cadorette boat with a 50hp Merc motor (1974) I got a quote for $ 380 bucks. I told my insurance agent they were insane as I only paid 2 grand for the boat, motor, and trailer. I just want collision on the boat but no one I have talked to can comprehend what I'm talking about.

It's sad to see such incompetance in the work place. I work for a large computer firm and the crap I see around here is enough to make me puke. My co-worker/ supervisor is a complete retard who does not have one single idea of what the F#$% he's doing and manages to screw up anything he touches. Of course he gets all the accolaids for the dept.

Sorry I digress.
