Music and fish ?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Music and fish ?

Post by Seabass81 »

Well the arrival of my Nitro is only weeks away. The previous owner had a cd/mp3 player instaled. Does the music scare fish? ( not playing Corey Hart).

It would nice to listen to some tunes but I dont want to spook the fish.

What are youre experiences?

I typically dont find sounds dont scare the fish. My ice shack makes lots of creaking sounds when I'm in it and I have the radio on, or when ice fishing with my truck I usually have the radio on, and I've caught fish with snow-machines whipping around my hole.

Just dont play rap! The bass will scare away the bass!

I have music playing all the time or comedy or talk radio on my satellite radio and we catch fish so I would say not a big deal and hey I think it may even attract some fish.

Walleye like soft rock ballads
Pike/muskie like heavy metal
Bass like rhytym and Bass/blues
Catfish like punk rock
Pan fish like boy bands
Trout like folk and country

I think I will try out this theory this year

They don't seem to mind the music, it's when I start singing that they vacate the premises. (so does everybody else)

I would stop at McDonalds for a Filet-O-Fish before I would slap Patsy Cline's music in my boat.

Obviously you are not old enough to appreciate the better things in life such as Patsy and Hank (Williams senior).

When I was a kid and my dad took me out fishing he told me I had to be quiet or I would scare the fish. Over the years I have come to find out that he just wanted some peace and quiet!

If your start rocking out so much so that you are shaking the boat, then yea maybe turn the tunes down, but I'm pretty convinced that just sound won't scare anything away.

Keep the bass down to limit the vibration under the boat and you should be fine
