Silver Lake on Hwy # 7

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Silver Lake on Hwy # 7

Post by MTF »

Has anyone driven by lately? if so is the ice melted yet? I am planning to seriously try for lake trout for the first time during easter long weekend....fished for them a few times last year on the big rideau during the summer months on my way to and from my bass spots with limited success...3 tries a one fish to show for it, however it was a big female (my biggest fish ever) which was immediately realeased...so I want to give it a try right after ice out this year as i didn't overly enjoy fishing deep for them and was worried about killing them by brining them to the surface from deep down.

Cheers,

Marc

I was by on Tuesday and the lake is still frozen. Some edges and near the creek as katch moore said is open but that's it. The ice doesn't look like it plans on checkin' out 'til after the easter bunny does his rounds.

Last weekend she was still iced up pretty tight. Only open water was right along the shore. If you were brave (or stupid) you probably could have ice fished it last weekend.

The Rideau up in Kilmarnock is completely open. Mississippi is almost completely open too.

Not long now!
