Any news on the results of the "Big Jim" tournamen

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Any news on the results of the "Big Jim" tournamen

Post by Billy Dee »

Just wondering if anyone knows. I was out east of Kingston on Sun morning and saw lots of boats ripping up the river. Will the results be posted here or is there a web page I can go to? Also, how is Big Jim doing? If he's reading this, hang in there buddy.

Later,
Billy.

Just thought I'd add a little more info on the Big Jim Showdown.

For those who don't know, this event was put on my the Canadian Professional Anglers Association as a fund Raiser for Jim, as well as an event of appreciation for our Military.

The event raised $7900 for Jim, and got over 30 CFB Kingston men and women out on the water for a day of tournamnet fishing with some of Ontario's top anglers.

The event was a huge success all around.

There is a complete write up being done, but in the meantime, some photos can be seen here: http://jben.zenfolio.com/p845492164

And some comments from the event can be read on this post on BigFatBass: http://www.bigfatbass.com/viewthread.php?tid=11639

For those that don't have an account, here's some highlights:

Pepe Parisien:
Thanks to CPAA for conducting a fine event in support of our good friend "Big Jim"

As well, thanks again to all the CPAA anglers for allowing myself and my fellow military members to share in this event.

Final thanks to my two boaters for the weekend, Chris Tieber and Scott Palmer. Chris was pretty tired from all the activities surrounding the event and it was apparent from the success from his efforts. I was also glad to be able to help contribute to Scott's success this weekend as well. Congrats to them both

Looking forward to future CPAA events.

Hi All,
I know I don't post on here often. But some things just have to be said. This event was AWESOME what an honor to fish with the military it really makes you thankful for were we live. I could not have thought of a better champion than Scott. Not only did he fish great but after winning this great event he took the $7000 and handed it to Big Jim. Now that is a Champion!!!!!
Great job by all congrats to the CPAA and all involved!
Dave Chong:
WOW! WOW! WOW!
It was an incredible unbelievable event! The Armed Forces guys & gals were awesome & inspirational! It was phenomenal to have Big Jim emcee the weigh-in on Sun! This may not have been the biggest tournament of the year nor did it have the largest payback but I do believe that this was the "TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR!" This was a defining moment for the CPAA and the fishing industry as a whole! For all those who question what the CPAA is all about, well this is it! Everyone involved should take great pride in their participation! See what we can accomplish when we all work together!

Huge KUDOS to my fellow members of the CPAA executive for their tireless efforts in making sure that this tournament went off as well as it did! Special thanks to all the friends & family members who helped out! Tom Brooke & all the Shimano crew who stepped up as usual. Andy, Vita & their staff who did another awesome job! (Andy, begging is not very becoming of a grown man!) Dr. Bruce Tufts & his Queen's University staff were again instrumental in ensuring the health of all the fish caught! All sponsors (included amongst those were Bassman magazine, Berkley, Strike Zone, Set The Hook & many more!) that were involved deserve our support wherever possible!

And Scott, I know that you wanted it keep quiet but I guess it's out now! You deserve the recognition not only for your well-deserved win but your over-whelming generousity! I am honoured to have you as a friend, a colleague & a fellow CPAA member!

To my dear friend, Jim our thoughts & prayers are with you! You're not alone in this we're with & behind you all the way!

This is the type of event that will help grow this sport, so once again thank you to all those who were involved!

Regards,
Dave

And just to add to Charles update, here is another tidbit from the event that I copied from Charles website:

Quote "Just to add to Charles details, I was Scott Palmers partner day two. He is a first class guy - this was confirmed when he gave his first place check of $7000 and turned it over to Big Jim. Classy move by a great guy."

That act shown by Scott Palmer shows how much our fishing fraternity is behind Big Jim. I know if the tables were turned, Big Jim would be rallying behind us as well.
