Mississippi Report

Post by devy »

Took a stress day off from work to hit out on the Lake for my first time this year. Water was as smooth as glass when I first got out around 10 but by 2, a bit of a chop was on. Results for the day were as follows:
6 rockies, 6 smallies(were caught in deeper water as I was trying avoid going to shallow on the shoals, and 1 pike....not impressive in size unless you compared it to Ron Jeremy :D
No wallys at all...talked to several other fishermen and no luck as well(mind you, water is still relatively cold and sky was sunny and blue). Water level is till up and as mentioned before, new vegetation is starting to grow in.
fished primarily in weed beds but also dropp offs on midlake humps and shoals. Marked some fish but no takers!!
Anyway, the yacht is baptised for the year and looking forward to go out again soon.....perhaps the WEEKEND!!

Mississsippi Report May 13th

Post by eye-tracker »

Doing some spring yard work today and noticed the wind coming up strong out of the south. Hooked the boat up and went out on the lake. Spent a hour and a half working the north side humps with heavy wind action...nice walleye chop ...the bite was on. In the first hour trolling we had 8 pike and 2 walleye. The last half hour we cast onto the rock piles and worked them with jigs and cranks and managed a few more pike and lost a nice walleye at the boat.
The big west part of the lake surface temp was 65-67F. We where trolling in 15-20 FOW lures down 10 ft and speed was 2.5 mph.

This was the first eye 20" caught just as we trolled over the hump.

Second 19" eye going back to catch another day.

Ya' the sun has been very nasty this past week...I was slaping on the sun block on Tuesday only to get home and notice I had a sun burn....went and checked the bottle and noticed that it was only SPF 5  Thats what I get for not reading the bottle :D.

I hit the water around 4pm...I usually like the wind to be blowing for a few hours before heading out.

Good luck this weekend if you make it out
