Got a call from Riverdog this morning. He says " Lets go fishing i think they might be in now " I had planned to change the wheel bearings on my trailer today but i was easily led astray by his suggestion. I grabbed 3 dozen minnows and was off. 15 minutes after wetting our lines we knew we were in for a show. As fast as we could take them off and get our line back in was the pace for the first 2 hours, then they disappeared. We caught the odd one but they were few and rather far between. Lost track of the numbers but managed another personal best for perch. 14" was my biggest and there was alot that were close. Minnows attached to a small jig under a slip bobber was my meal ticket. Can't wait to get back out. Riverdog says " It only gets better " Here are some pics of the bigger ones that i caught.
24\7. The reason some of the fish were bloated was because they were full of eggs and it was kind of hard to keep them alive in the pail i was using even though i was changing the water.
Thanks Netman for the name drop great day - all mine except 4 had eggs, two had the yellow grubs kept 11 total, caught many more but let them go to reproduce, good fishing and smart harvesting!
That's a good one Joe. Actually i will be using perch for bait on opening day. Not this big of course Pike and walleye both love them. You ever go out for pike??. See you tonight.
