AF...have you ever seen a tournament where the fish are measured in length instead of being weighed???????
I can tell you right now that a female walleye caught in March will be full of spawn, with a huge girth as opposed to a male of the same length and will weigh in a LOT HEAVIER....

Troutmuskie: We did it by length last year...The only issue this year is this new slot size. It worked pretty good doing length last year I think???...But you are right on what you said.
Hopewell (www.hopewell.ca) is delighted to be working with you on the fishing derby event in March. I look forward to meeting the event organizers!

WB it's not that strict is it? you can't even take a picture? seems a bit over the top...If you have pliers and a camera ready you can release a fish properly no problem after taking a measurment and a few pics...
Theres no reason why walleye/sauger should be excluded from the derby
With the prizes being awarded. I don't think that a picture and a measurement will cut it!!! I did say that I wasn't talking about a 15 second thing. The last one we had to bring the live fish to the tent to get it measured. That's the part that I am saying that there is no way of doing it legally.
