I was going to give you a tip to contact Moosebunk, as I remembered his experience with this fishing method...but I see he already replied to you.
You know you can't use them on the ice, right???
Now, remember when I told you I thought it would be wild (and a little creepy) hooking a big musky in a kayak...?...well, imagine a float tube?!
Good luck with your wish from Santa. I hope he delivers, because I'd love to read some reports.

I've got an Arrow Backpacker pontoon boat. It's made by Classic Accessories. It weighs 42lbs and has a capacity of 350lbs. It has a level 1 whitewater classification (I've had it through class 2 rapids without a problem). Lebaron sells them for around $350. So far it's worked out well. It's easy to setup / take down and it's lightweight. My only complaint is that inside of the steel frame tubing rusts when it gets wet. I didn't feel like spending another $300-400 to get a pontoon boat with a stainless steel or aluminum frame.
