BAOO alive and still kicking.
BAOO one of the oldest tournament series in this area is alive and well and looking for new members.
If you are interested in tournament angling and want to know what it’s all about but don’t have a bunch of money to spend or a big fast bass boat and want to learn to become a better angler and learn some new techniques then BAOO is for you.
This is a no pressure series designed to introduce the novice angler to the growing sport of bass tournament fishing.
The only requirements are a partner, a boat with a functioning live well and the desire to participate, plus the entry fee.
BAOO supplies the event and the atmosphere and of course prize money.
Think of this, spending a day fishing on a body of water close to your home and competing with other like-minded anglers for a cash prize but more importantly testing your abilities to catch fish no matter neither the conditions nor the lake. All this will give you the confidence to go out on your own to find and catch more fish. And isn’t that what it’s all about.
I fished BAOO a few years ago and last year when my brother said he was interested in doing a couple of tournaments we decided to fish the BAOO series.
Well we got a rude awakening. I thought we would do better than we did but by the time the classic came around we started to get better results. I had already committed to do another bigger series in the area so I put little effort into BAOO until the classic. We didn’t do well the second day of the classic and finished 5th I believe.
After the tournament I went to the winning team and asked them how they caught their fish and without a pause I was told how they beat us. Now rarely has this happened to me in other tournaments, usually the top teams are so tight lipped you get a rather vague response or nothing at all. This is why I like BAOO no pretensions, no egos and just a bunch of guys putting some money on the line for a day of fun.
If this interests you and you need more info PM, email or call me.
There will be a meeting in the not so distant future, working around the hockey schedule, hopefully this week or weekend.
So practice your flipping skill and sharpen your hooks and make the commitment to support BAOO.
In looking at the past members it is interesting to note that most of the anglers who compete in the larger more “prestigious†actually started or at one time fished the BAOO series.
So if you a young and upcoming tournament angler cut your teeth with BAOO as did other anglers.
The website will be up-dated soon but here is the schedule so far.
> JUNE 30 MISSISSIPPI LAKE
> JULY 14 OTTAWA RIVER
> JULY 28 KILMARNOCK(Rideau River)
> AUGUST 4 RIDEAU RIVER(Taylor Park)
> AUGUST 18 BIG RIDEAU

Walk-ons
Hello Dave,
Can we fish as a walk-on team as we did last year?
Interested, but we can not make all the events.
