Ice Shacks Broken Into

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ice Shacks Broken Into

Post by Mike_C »

Please ask everyone to watch for anyone selling alot of used ice fishing gear and acess. All of the ice shacks on Shirlys Bay where broken into on Sunday night and a lot of gear lifted. Also a small house trailer (Playcat) that was converted to an ice shack was taken. The tracks cross the river to the Que. side just east of Aylmer Is. then head west along the shore (still on the ice) toward Luskville. Please lets see if we can find these @*%*#s

That really sucks!!!!!! :x

Fished there a couple times this year....know of the trailer you speak of and regardless of colour change I'd recognize that hut a mile away.

Will be up @ the cottage in QC this coming weekend & will keep my eyes
peeled.

Amazing what lengths people will go to get free gear.

Theft

Post by CCLad »

For what it may be worth, I have seen an older model, silver (I think red down the box) with a cap, pick up truck cross the river from the Aylmer side on a couple of occasions. As vague as the details maybe I should report it.

Does anyone have a contact with the police regarding this case?

Oh yes, I'll be finding out around 10AM what the condition of my hut is.

Shacks

Post by bts »

Sorry to hear people's shacks were broken into and stuff stolen. It's too back they couldn't be caught while doing it. Nothing worse than a friggin theif.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anybody on here lost anything maybe you could post a description of the stuff if it has any identifiable markings and we could keep an eye out for it.
It's a long shot but I hope you guys get your stuff back.

This happened on the Mississipppi last year and the stuff was recovered.

sorry to hear your bad luck. I once had a real nice shack stollen from me. that sucks!

Now I never leave a thing behind! I dont understand why someone would leave all there fishing gear out in a hut? Sort of asking for your things to be taken? :?

I think we all had something stollen from us at one time or another. Its got to be the worst feeling in the world. hope you find the guy.

Fishing Gear Stolen from Shirley's Bay
Josh Pringle
Monday, February 26, 2007
Ottawa Police are asking for the public's help in their investigation
into the disappearance of fishing gear.
30 ice huts set up in the Shirley's Bay area were entered over the last
couple of days.
Fishing gear and an 11 foot camper trailer on wheels were stolen.
Police say tracks on the ice indicate the suspects headed towards
Aylmer.

That's brutal  You like to think that in this world the one group you can trust are fellow fishermen. I hope someone catches the bastards.

I hope that not a lot was stolen . I also hope people are not foolish enough to leave property in the huts while away. Like cottages they are targets.
Didn't we have a member lose a hut at Petrie a few years back?

I was shocked. I put it on top of my favorite walleye hotspot near the private access on Mississippi lake and it just disapeared.
