Few Pics from the Holiday Wknd

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Few Pics from the Holiday Wknd

Post by wolfe »

Although I have several pics, I'm having problems reducing the image sizes to the satisfaction of the Gallery. It's really frustrating. The following ones, I have somehow managed to reduce properly and so can share them with you.

We went up to Wolfe Lake on Friday afternoon and spent the long, holiday wknd there working at our cottage site and sneaking in some quick fishing excursions. The weather and the autumn scenery were just SPECTACULAR. I took so many pictures, because no matter where I looked, I was amazed at the beauty of the season in the gorgeous Rideau Lakes district. It was pure "eye candy".

Anyhow, here are a few pics:

Pulled this hale & hearty fellow off the pads where I got lucky a few times last month. He was a chunky guy and put up a heck of a bulldogging fight.

Another shot, as the kids wanted to get in on the action:

Brian got this feisty pike on a little walleye jig. Again, kids insist on hamming it up. Tyler loves to hold the fish now (last year he was skittish about toothies).
Image

Being a horse nut and missing my own pal, I had to stop to say HI to these beauties. There was much competition for a pat on the nose... While we were working at the site, a couple rode some gorgeous draft/cross horses down to the lake. What a wknd for a ride!

Anyway, back to fishing: we got a hanful of walleye, between 14"-16", as well as some perch.

If I can figure out why the pics won't post even though I'm reducing the image size, I'll try to put up a few more (including some updated cottage shots).

Later all,

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Nice family fishing pics. I am jealous. Wish I could get my family out on a boat fishing...wish I had a boat....

I had to pull up docks this weekend, pull boats in, and winterize the cottage for a friend with a few buddies. We got out in the boat on Saturday for three hours and caught squat...even with chub. The highlight of the weekend? Watching one drunk skunk of a friend fall into 50ish water on one of the sillest boat dismounts I have ever seen. Picture cat trying to get out of full bathtub. :P

Hey Wolfe, nice pics and looks like another nice getaway.

I too am having lots of problems with the size of pics, its pretty frustrating. Usually you just hit browse and open and the pics are accepted most places. I guess they have changed things, hopefully they can make it a little easier sometime. Oh well at least I have learned how to post pics.

Oh and I think you need to give K-pin a little ribbing as I think he misses it.

Nice bass Wolfe and super pictures. 8) What a gorgeous weekend to get out! It didn't look like your boys were enjoying themselves at all  Any day out on the water with your family is a good day, fish or no fish. My kids are older now and have alot of conflicting interests so it is harder to catch them with the free time to go fishing. :( I sure miss those times when they were younger and could hardly wait to get out fishing.

Scuro - I loved your analogy of the cat in the bathtub, it really painted the picture

Hey Wolfe,
Nice fish on a beautiful wknd. Doesn't get better. That pike got some nice color to it and the horses are beautiful.

Thanks, everyone. :P

I just spent several more (wasted) minutes trying to reduce the image sizes of a few more pictures. I can't figure out why some are accepted and some not, when they are from the same camera and reduced to the same image size... :?: Oh well. I think Bobber has had enough of my prolific pic's and has a secret sabbotage software package installed to deflect my photo's from being uploaded. 8)

Anyway, maybe the hubby can figure it out when he gets a few free moments...

Thx again for the nice comments; it was a great wknd to be at the lake!

Fish

Post by grumpy7790 »

Wolfe,
What a great weekend, fishing in a tee shirt in October!.

Man, the fish were stacked up in the shallows on wood all weekend on Devils. The water was so clear it was almost like site fishing. Saw four of five fish (3-4lbs) all in one fallen white birsch. Did you find the same?

Grumpy, it was an amazing streak of perfect weather. A little windy one afternoon, but who can complain?

We didn't have all that much time to fish, just mini excursions at the conclusion of each day of work at the cottage site. So I didn't have the abundance of luck you did! But we did have a smattering of action, and managed the bass, walleye and the kids did OK with some perch, too. I hated to come home!

Glad you had the chance to enjoy yourself as well! (Any pics of some of your bass?)

Hey Wolfe, nice pics and yes it was truly a great weekend. Thanks for sharing.

How large are you other pics? I've increased the size limit so give it a try now. If you images are larger that 900kb, then the system would not allow it. I've increased it to 1.5MB so it should work now.
