Florida fishing in January

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Florida fishing in January

Post by BrianM »

Hey guys and gals. I remember that there has been some threads in the past regarding fishing in florida. I have a chance to get to the Orlando area in January and I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations on a good charter in the area. I think I can get a crew to make a trip to either coast as well. We would be about 10 guys and salt water fishing is preferable.
any help in narrowing down a search would be most appreciated.

Sorry, Brian. I only fished from a pier in the Ft. Myers area and only a couple of times for brief periods at that. We caught some whacky catfish and some other oddball fish dragging (frozen) shrimp across the bottom. I don't think that's what you have in mind...!

...BUMPING this back up. Hope someone can help you!

Good luck. I'm sure it'll be fun and a nice break from the winter cold.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Brian: I went to lake Istapoga (sp?) last year for bass. ccomodations were great. We didn't use a guide but there were lots available. The lodge was called trails End and may be found at http://www.trailsendfishingresort.com This is for bass fishing only though.

Since you're in the Orlando area Disney World is supposed to have some awesome bass fishing on their private lake. Fish n Canada did a show there I think.

This is a coincidence, but my father-in-law in FL (near Daytona) just went out on a charter and caught 2 or 3 different kinds of grouper and snappers. He had a great time; we're just excited for him that he actually caught fish, and several at that -- he's usually skunked  . It was all catch & release, which surprised me.

Pretty pathetic that I don't know if Daytona and Orlando are close, but I can find out the info from him if you are interested. Just say the word.
