Help - Cannon Sport troll advice

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Help - Cannon Sport troll advice

Post by Scumking »

Was looking around on a local classified sight and came across a Cannon sport troll downrigger used only once for 100.00 bucks.I'm not experienced at all with this stuff. Is this a good deal for someone who will on occasion downrig for mostly either lake trout or Quinte walleye.

All opinions are welcome.

Thanks
Ron

Don't mean to hijack your thread scumking, but I was also looking at those downriggers.

Anyone know if its it possible to add extra cable to the spool? Or is it full with 100ft?

Thanks Everyone,

Even at 100' feet maximum the places I plan to use it Charleston/Quinte would be suitable.Sounds like this might be what I want.

Cannon Sport Troll

Post by Braeside »

Greetings,

Bought one this year, and have enjoyed it! Easy to use, responsive, and I am sure easy to load extra line, or just exchange with 150ft or more. Not being mechanical I bought the quick-bracket (whatever its called) instead of drilling, bolting and all those other fun things I don't have time for! 8) Have used the Sport at Charleston, and Round Lake (Renfrew County) with success at the 90 - 100 range limit of line out. At 100ft out at a slow troll, with a 8lb ball, I was able to mark my line on the fish finder at approximately 90ft. With a head wind and moving slower, the ball was down at about 95 feet. For both lakes mentioned above, I had luck with trout. :D

Cheers,

B.

Found this pic in the gallery of my cannons.....I wouldn't trade them for electrics or another brand. I would like to get a longer boom for them though.
