Out of interest, i'd like to know when the fishing season closes on the Ausable River, down in New York. There may be a trip in the works and we would hate to go down only to find the season has closed.

Trout season in NY is April 1st - October 15th state wide with certain exceptions, in the case of the Ausable River...
West Branch Ausable River from mouth of Holcomb Pond Outlet downstream to marked boundary 2.2 miles downstream of Monument Falls has open season on trout year round - No Kill and artificial lures only.
West Branch Ausable River from the Whiteface Ski Center bridge downstream to the Rt 86 bridge at the flume has open season year round, catch and release only and artificials only.
So if you're not hitting one of these areas you have til October 15th for trout.
