Hi! I've been lurking on this forum for so long now, I figured it was time to create an account and attempt to contribute.

I primarily shore fished the Ottawa area for many years before I moved to the Northwest Territories and bought my first boat. Lots of the Summer up north was spent catching lakers near Yellowknife. It didn't take long for me to be hooked on a different style of fishing on big water. The fishing seemed pretty easy up there looking back haha.

I returned to Ottawa a few years ago in my 30s, but really started to invest more time into getting out on the water this year. I currently spend most of my time on the boat chasing eyes on the Ottawa or Rideau rivers and lakers on Charleston. However, I'm really trying to get out to new spots around here and hit the Madawaska today without much luck.

Hoping to make some friends and pick up some tips along the way. Thank you to all of you who have shared lots of valuable info with us lurkers for many years. Tight lines.

The salmon was amazing. Was it salmon or am I mistaken?

Nice greys. I'm a huge fan of Charleston Lake, used to fish it a lot and I know it well. No boat anymore to fish it. Definitely the nicest big lake around anywhere this part of the province being a southern part of the shield the juts down south. Reminds me more of lakes up north.
Cheers

Cliff, those are lake trout. I mainly fished a lake called Walsh lake when I lived up there. You had to launch on another lake and basically portage through a creek to get to it, but the fishing was amazing. No big boats could make it through there.

Charleston has been my favourite so far around here for lake trout, but I'm trying to learn some new lakes on the Quebec side this Summer.
