Rod Holders - advice, install, positioning

Hey,
What an enjoyable season it has been this first one with the new boat. I was contemplating installing some rod holders on my 2014 Legend X Caliber 18 in hopes of giving muskie trolling a try before calling it a season and tucking the boat in for the winter.
Just want a couple holders that will be up to the task without breaking the budget plus not to difficult to install, etc.
Appreciate any advice on the subject including brand, installation advice etc.
Sorry not the most interesting of topics but sure appreciate any advice on the subject. Could find all kinds of good info on musky fishing, gear, responsible handling, quick release etc. but couldn't find much useful on rod holders.
Many thanks.
Howie

I've been pretty happy with these: http://www.basspro.com/Cannon-SideMount ... uct/59200/. (they have them at Sail/lebaron's as well)

I have them mounted on top of my gunwales on either side of the boat. I've used them for trolling musky and walleye for a few years now, and they have held up well.

it's probably a good idea to dry mount them with tape or something first...then sit in your boat with rod in and out of the holder. Musky rods can have long butt ends, so make sure that doesn't get in your way when the rod is in the holder. Depending on your boat cover, you may want to try putting it on while you have the holder dry mounted on.(the actual rod holder pops off so that there is a small nub that stays attached to your boat)

I haven't tried any others, so can't comment if the above is better/worse than anything else.
