So... What are you guys looking forward to trying this year?

Just what the title says....anything and everything related to Rods, Reels, Terminal Tackle, Plastics, what others are using, what works, what doesn't work, and anything else you want to talk about regarding equipment.

I'm a relative noob to fishing the right way (spent many...but ya got to re-start somewhere, right? :D Spent far too many years simply casting into the clouds with no strategy and no idea of the proper tools of the trade.

I've put the Crappy Tire setup on the side and I'm trying the following this year:

- 704C Dobyns Champion paired with a Lew's Tournament Pro
- 705CB GLASS Dobyns Champion paired with a Lew's Tournament Pro

As well, I won't be fishing from shore much this year or mooching off my boat-owning friends. Bought a used boat to finally get myself out on the water when and where I want. The boat pales in comparison to many of the ones I've seen posted here...but it floats nonetheless!!! Heck, I would have settled for an innertube!

For those who know me know that I love Deps Buzzjets and this is a similar bait that I feel can be fished with more retrieves than the Buzzjet. We will see I guess.
That Duel Hardcore looks pretty sweet. I have never tried to Deps Buzzjet, but after looking it up, it may be worth a shot this summer. Pretty sweet looking bait.

Brad,

Who cares about a Met when you have a new boat to get used to! Way to go Brad and congrats on such a big purchase. The Bass Tracker will have to do me for a few more years, but I plan on getting itno a Glass pltform sooner or later.

Nice setups Xped and Welcome back!

I have a 734C paired with a Patriarch XT which a great combo. I mainly use it for Spinnerbaits and Buzzbiats, but it has come in handy as a backup Jig and texas rigged tube/senko stick as well. I find it to be quite the versatile rod and would imagine you will find that you made a great choice with the 4 power. The Dobyns no questions warranty is also a bonus for these as well. The 704CB rod, I have no experience with but apparently is a great crankbait rod so let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks!

I had planned to use the 704C exactly the way you described using your 734C. Good to know I'm on the correct track! Ha!

I bought the 705CB GLASS for crankbait.

Of course, reading this and other fishing forums helped guide me in the right direction when picking equipment. :handgestures-thumbup:

Can't go wrong with Lew's and Dobyns.
The 705CB will work beautifully for crankbaits.

Congrats on the new ride Brad. You'll enjoy that sucka!

New things I've added this year that I'm anxious to give a go. The new Shimano musky rods designed by Jim Saric, Chronarch CI4+, and NRX901...

Now if spring would ever get here....

I'll add another. Some have seen this already.

New combo. Megabass XX Spinnerbait Special/Daiwa Steez.

And definately looking forward to this guy!
Son #2 on the way, I'll see him in August. I do need better timing though! My first was born in August so the season was cut short in 2012 too. Worth it though.

Although, this guy could be trouble!
Kinda sorta looks like he's getting high and has a xbox headset on!
