Rescue 78 Hits it BIG!

Post by Cancatchbass »

I met up with Rescue 78 Today to hit one of my not-so-secret crappie spots.

The fishing was interesting, for lack of a better word.

Claude has his first fish within 5 seconds, and I thought the action was going to be hot.

And it was. Claude had set out a tip-up and was busy running. Unfortunately, despite moving several times, he couldn't get away from the bass :x

The crappie bite was not exactly what I had hoped for for a first outing of the year, and I'm sure Claude was beginning to be less than excited about my guiding abilities,

UNTIL...

I heard some laughing in the distance, and there was Claude, holding up what I took to be another bass. But it wasn't:

This baby blew Claude's PB right out of the water. 14 1/4 inches of chunky Rideau system black crappie. Although he managed just 2 crappie on the day, (along with a slew of bass and perch) they outweighed the 7 I caught by a good margin.

It's always great when someone gets a PB. Even better when he is on your derby team!

Way to go, Claude!

Awesome fish, Rescue!

Thank you for a beautifull day on the ice. The weather was great and so was the company.

It was pretty cool to see this slab come out of the hole.

Don't worry about the reputation of your guiding abillities, which reminds me I did not tip my guide. Let me know if I owe you gas money.

I hope to spend some time with you hunting the bass this summer.

Thanks again for a great day and thanks everyone for the comments on the fish. (Great photograph by the way). 8)

Hey, 78!

Post by Cancatchbass »

It was my pleasure, 78. If we can get together in May, we might be able to up that crappie PB by an inch or two.

How about I go on record now that I'm confident you'll get a PB largemouth too this season.

That way, I'll be committed to showing you some big bass waters where some 5's and 6's can be had. Just as long as you let me catch a couple, too.

I"ll get the rest of the photos (in high-def) to you ASAP.
