:D My dad and I went down to see Muskiemagnet and WIG to fish for some Ling. I took two days off school and my teacher told me that I have to bring in the fishing story on Monday as homework. We got up at 4am and drove to Ottawa. It didnt take long once we were there to drive out onto the ice to the shack. WIg was outside at some holes and he got the first fish. Later I got my first fish a nice pike about 19 1/2 " long.

Later in the day i got another pike . It was 20" and looked good. It was getting dark and we were going to try for walleye, sauger and ling.

When it was dark WIG got a Ling. My dad went outside to fish and Muskiemagnet got a Ling too. I said I wasnt leaving till I got one. Everyone went home but my dad and i stayed longer so I could try and get one. About 9:45 I got a good bite and I thought it was a walleye. i was wrong it was my first Ling!! Now I was happy and we went and stayed at WIG'S cottage.

In the morning my dad and I decided to fish for a few hours with WIG and Muskiemagent before we headed for home. I caught my biggest pike and an eight inch perch so it was really good going back out. Then we drove home and stopped by a big tackle shop for some more lures on the way home. Thanks for having us down Muskiemagnet and WIG.

It was great having you and your Dad down Jonathon :!: Your a true blue fisherman Jonathon. And I'll say the same for your Dad, anyone who drives the milage he does to try a new species is a die hard in my books :!:

What is it with you guys and your Ling disgust? Is it the slime? Is it because it's a predator of the dark?

I doesn't have a terrible look to it IMHO. This fish doesn't get any respect. It has a good size, offers and extention to your fishing day cause you can fish into the night, pretty easy to target and they taste great. I think the Ling desrves a little more respect.

What do you normally fish for ling with??? What's their preferred meal?

I know a hole up here that has them thru the winter, but I've never bothered.
