Our group of 6 filled 5 tags last week, 4 bucks, 1 doe.
We hunt 300 private acres in WMU 67.

Monday Opener started with (1) average sized doe and (2) Bucks,
a 4 point and a 2nd 4 point (with two more points coming), each around 140lbs, all before noon.
These three deer were all taken by other members of our party...

I was able to harvest the 3rd Buck on Friday morning, also 4 points, a bit smaller at 126lb.

Then on Saturday, the grand slam!! Our 4th Buck, 8 point, big bodied deer, weighed in at 215lbs!!

Lotsa deer still on the farm, does and fawns, including one more buck - the primary scrape was visited and re-scraped
after Buck #4 was hanging.

Glad we could tag out on bucks to let the does keep producing
We only had two buck tags, so we had to use antlerless tags on two of the 4 bucks!

??? ASK - Bow season is still open during the gun season. ( Assuming you are hunting around Ottawa). You do have to wear hunter orange though

How did you approach the hunt? Stand hunting? Dogs? Pushing the bush? Did you use attractants (food plots, bait, sents?)

No food plots or attractants.

We all stand hunted every morning (dawn-9am) and evening (4pm-dusk).
With 6 hunters, we had 9 stands to choose from, which we chose based on wind direction. Some days we were down from 6 to 2 hunters.

Four of the days we did drives during the mid day, we generally traded stands with each other for the mid-day hunt. The people who had already gotten a deer did most of the drives.

On Saturday, someone else's hounds were on the property, and they pushed the big fella out of the cedars while we were on stands.

When I harvested the Buck on Friday morning, I snuck in between the bedding area and a corn field, near what I suspected would be a modified travel route (back-door) due to the hunting pressure of the week. I played the wind, and was standing against a tree... basically an ambush setup with the ATV on the other side of the trail to divert attention away from me...

In reality it was 80% luck, just being in the right place at the right time.

i wish i would of saw one ,i hunt alone on 100 acres in the denbeigh area ,hoping to get into a deer camp next year,

That's awesome... I love it when you read the situation, make a gut-feeling audible and it pays off... even more so when it pays off with a successful harvest, but just saying, I think they are going to be here because... and they show up gives me a rush every time...

Hunting alone on 100 acres is some peoples dream... In fact, my dream has me on 1000 acres.
