I second Larry's advice. There is no fishing store in Kingston (that sells motors) and outside of Canadian Tire your bet bet is one of the Marina's. There is also a West Marine in the Kingston Centre Mall, but I do not think they carry trolling motors in stock. Walmart sells some motors, but I'm not...

Thanks for the info Trouthunter. I didn't realize that the Maxxum would extend the battery life for that length. I think I will spend the extra cash to get into the Maxxum now (the Endura is $215 at Walmart) - now I just have to head to Ottawa and Lebaron's!

Trolling Motor and Battery Question

Hi Everyone, I think I have decided on the trolling motor setup I will use on the 14' Aluminum I use regularly and would like an some opinions on the matter. I figure with passengers, gear, motor etc. the weight of the boat is something like 700-800lbs. I think I will go with the 40lb Thrust Minn Ko...

Hi Fresh Fish, If you are interested in only catch and release there is a section of the Credit River off of Highway 10 near Caledon that is artificial, one barbless hook only (no trebs). Trout unlimited has a section of river designated around the town of Inglewood. There are brown trout and brook ...

Shore Fishing Between Kingston and Port Hope

Hi Everyone, Just wondering if anyone could suggest a decent place to shore fish between Kingston and Port Hope. Close to the 401 would be ideal. I don't care too much about the species any will do. Several friends and myself are heading to Port Hope and want to fish a bit on the way down. Thanks fo...

We caught these at lower brewers. I guess they are moving up the lock system, which isn't too surprising.

Hi Peppino,

Thanks for directing me to that site. It looks like it was a couple of white perch. Has anyone caught these fish in the same area? They sound like an invasive species.

Are the good to eat?

Unknown fish (no pic)

Hi everyone, Several of my friends and myself were fishing on the Rideau Canal tonight (for crappie) outside of Kingston and caught two fish that we could not identify. Unfourtunately, we don't have a camera. The cloest we could guess was that it was either a white bass or white perch. This was the ...

Ice Fishing Trip

Well, I guess this post is a little while in coming, but I've been waiting to get a picture of our trip. After seeing Leisure Cottages recommended in one post on the board here, several of my friends and I decided to do some ice fishing over reading week. I have to say I was really pleased with the ...

Ice fishing for walleyes

Hi everyone,

What techniques would you suggest for walleye when ice fishing? Has anyone found one technique that has worked better than others.

Several of my friends and I are headed to Leisure Cottages next week for a few days. Should be fun.

Thanks in advance for the help,

John

Hey Musky, The T-shirt was our softball team Jersey :) Dave had a shirt which said "DAVE" in big letters on the front. Retribution for too many mom jokes. Here is a pick of my biggest bass of the year. Nothing spectacular, but still a nice fish. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e127/JBfis...

Hi Tony, This summer I saw carp at both Upper and Lower Brewers. The Carp at upper tended to be in the area around the bridge in the park (the part of the river which connects to the damn). I remember seeing a group of at least 10 fish. My friend hooked into a big one (~20lbs) at Upper this year fis...

When I fished the salmon at the mouth of the Credit in Mississauga, we would use a spawn sack with a large marshmellow (slightly stale to help it last longer in the water) and a big worm. It worked absolutely amazingly for both salmon and rainbow. I have also used bits of coloured sponge as salmon/r...
