Believe it or not I only had a 5 tall boys and 1/2 bottle of wine in me (just another Wed or Thurs night) so no...not hammered.
However I am looking forward to your next months blog with the Twinkie as a hot new pattern I do have some more gems including a stationary trolling technique.

Re: trolling deep for lakers
You should try the.... "Twinkie". ;) It works best with a good size circle hook. You take a couple of good size nightcrawlers and hook'em once in the middle. Then you take some real thick clay mixed with stones and pack it around the crawlers. It will sink like a "stone" and when...

Keyboard biologists  Are you making fun of me? Not in the least. You are clearly knowledgeable, educated and have clearly taken the time to do your homework. You don't just spout off what you feel would be best based on the latest thing that popped into your head while enjoying a few brews... ...

Re: brook trout stocking in Ottawa River
Keyboard biologists  Are you making fun of me? These fish obviously came from a private source and they would not have been cheap. What was that source? It is hard to believe someone with a license who raises them for their livelihood sold them knowing they were going to be dumped in the Ottawa...

Re: brook trout stocking in Ottawa River
Those trout won't be around long they die quickly in water over 80F. The water in that bay will be well over 80F I would think. Trout usually sink to the bottom when they die unless they come from deep water and the bladder is full. If several hundred were released it will be a mess. The Quebec auth...

Re: I'm done with CTC
You cant order online for the same reason you cant order tnt online. Its considered an explosive device. So you're telling that's why I couldn't order a 12 pack of dynamite sticks? :? In Soviet Russia, the 12 pack of dynamite orders you! Ah man that's so old! Get with the times. Its now...."In...

Re: Can I fish "your" Lake?
A friend pulls up to house one Saturday around noon. He has his boat and has spent the morning fishing down on Newboro Lake. I ask him how the fishing went? He says to me...."should have seen this a-hole". I'm fishing a boat dock early this morning and this guy comes out of a cottage and s...

Re: Crayfish fly
I hate quill wings!! I hate playing around with the segmented body too. On a Royal Coachman I use red thread. I tie the herl in back as usual and wrap the herl over the thread then wrap the red thread over the herl for the middle then the herl over top for the next segment. Instead of white duck fea...

Re: Crayfish fly
I fish mostly poppers for bass and dries for trout. If I need to get down for bass I fish a Clouser Minnow (best warmwater fly ever).
It is not very complicated really...just looks it Took about 5 minutes and aside from a hair bug that is my about the limit I want to spend on a fly.

Re: Trout rivers near Arnprior?
My understanding is the Madawaska outside Algonquin was a river that had trout seasonally. It was always dominated by warmwater species. At the mouth of coldwater tributaries you could catch brook trout. It was likely late fall after spawning when they dropped down from the tributary to the big rive...

Re: Trout rivers near Arnprior?
You wonder why they would just dump them at the mouth like that. The highway follows much of the creek I would think it would be beneficial to stock them at various places along the highway. Another time you see trout bunched together is in hot weather. I have seen stressed trout cramming into a sha...

Re: Trout rivers near Arnprior?
there are lots of trout creeks. I trap minnows for a living and trap dozens of creeks and I've caught trout in my minnow traps in almost every creek. I get smaller trout in my traps but have seen larger ones sitting in front of my traps and swimming in the creeks, especially in the spring and fall....

Re: Trout rivers near Arnprior?
Have you tried the Clyde yet? There are supposed to be brownsin although I have yet to catch one! I am a little too far for an evening fish, (Pembroke) or I would continue to fish it. Just remember that browns are probably the finickiest trout and really have to be in the mood. Hope this helps. Do ...

Re: Trout rivers near Arnprior?
I'm reading this with a lot of interest. I head to Watertown quite frequently ( I like paying $15 for beer instead of $40  ) But the dudes at Gander are no stinking help with trout streams. I know Oneida lake is huge and apparently has lakers but I want stream trout. I don't see any public acc...
