Re: Sunscreen VS Helix 7....Any solutions??
One thing you could try is to try and find a touch up paint at a hardware store and take a very tiny brush to the spots. I know it probably isn't the best option but just a suggestion i thought of.

Re: Got a question? Let's hear it!
One thing that has really been bugging me is when, where, what type of crankbait to use. I love power fishing (spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, jerkbaits) but am completely lost when it comes to cranking. I've caught the odd fish on them but nothing where i feel confident to use the bait.

Re: boat is porposing
So we brought it up another hole on the transom and are currently using a 4 blade aluminum prop. Both have helped but I'm sure that the motor definitely needs a 3 blade as there is signs of cavitation on the aluminum prop (Paint is peeled in spots) As of now we are sticking with the 4 blade prop and...

Re: boat is porposing
Lape it is definitely a 20 we ran the serial numbers on it and came out as a 20 i think that its a bigger gear case than the old motor that it just has a different set up than the old one. I just got it back they raised it 2 holes and it is working a lot better getting about 5300 rpm and 46 MPH wot....

Re: boat is porposing
So I took the measurements from the pad to the ground at level was 12 3/4 inches and from the center of the prop shaft the the ground was only 5 1/4 which gives us 7 1/2 inches which is ridiculously low even I know that. The boat is a 1990 bayliner cobra 1804 with a 2001 Mercury 135 optimax DFI. Aft...

Re: boat is porposing
CN I originally took the boat in to have them raise it higher on the transom but what I was told is that the mechanic said it would just cavitate if they raised it any higher than it was at that point. We dropped it down to see if that would make any difference and it didn't and started side sprayin...

Re: boat is porposing
I'll double check it in the morning by having my dad follow behind me in his boat. He said it looked like that but wasn't 100% sure cause he wasn't right behind me. He said it looked like that but you just had tons of water shooting out the sides of the boat. Right now I have a 3 blade 21 pitch prop...

Re: boat is porposing
CBB it shouldn't be a weight issue its an 18 foot bass boat that can take up to a 150HP motor so we are underpowering it but had an older 135 on it before and it ran perfectly. 67 no they didn't and I didn't really push them on it because I'm hoping I can trust a certified merc dealer to know how th...

Re: boat is porposing
After having it taken to the shop I was told that they couldn't raise it anymore as it would start cavitating like crazy. So we decided to put a 21 pitch merc high five ss prop It helped with the porpoising at WOT not trimmed but I still couldn't trim it at all. We than decided we would try dropping...

Re: boat is porposing
When you say raise it 1 inch above the hull do you mean 1 inch when its fully tilted down? I'm assuming so.

Re: boat is porposing
I checked the cavitation plate this morning with the help of a family member and they said it wasn't I checked it at my cruising speed which was right around 36 MPH according to my Humminbird GPS. That was without trimming it up at all because the moment i trim it up it porpoises like crazy like if ...

boat is porposing
I took my boat out for the first time on my vacation and was not happy to see that I was porposing like crazy. it wasn't because I had it trimmed to high it was doing it when it was trimmed all the way down. The motor is set at the 2nd to last highest holes. Anything over 35 mph and it is like ridin...
