Open seat today 11am - 3pm. **Updated***
Slipping out for a fish this morning, rain or shine. Will be heading to my honeyhole filled with many species. Be more than happy to share a seat with a fellow fish-hawker. Baie McLaurin in the east end of Gatineau is the location you will need to get too! Bring your own snacks, positive attitude an...

Just read that!
It is kind of bitter sweet. Always better when there are two
Significant Players on the scene, as it reduces monopolies on suppliers, and prevents Walmart/IKEA type strong arming tactics.
Hopefully Ottawa's new location doesn't pull a target, and retreat back to the US.
I was there last night. Beautiful store, very hunting centric but I expected that as that is their I'm not sure what folks really expect? Senkos for 5 bucks? Megabass Jerkbaits for 10 bucks? A foot massage at the door? RJ
So we are positive no foot massage or Pedicure ...

Re: Sad news to pass along...
Incredibly sad news. I was very glad to have known Frank, and my thoughts go out to Mav. and his family at this time. Frank's humour, love of music-good and bad will be missed around here. But mostly, I feel for the new Fish-Hawkers, who will never get to experience his assistance as you try and nav...

Re: Trailer Supply - Gold Mine!
Thanks for the heads up on an alternative to Chinese bearings! My new setup has been great, with the exception of the trailer that came with it. I have replace springs, bearings, studs and nearly every boat, only to find yet another broken spring strap yesterday. May be time to replace the whole dam...

Re: Got a question? Let's hear it!
We as a community are here to help! Fish-hawk has been around for well over 10 years now, I can't imagine the information that has been shared and learned over that time, it really is a HUGE asset to the Eastern Ontario angling community. Recently "Kickurbass" expressed his frustration wi...

Re: boat is porposing
If you have a forward livewell, fill it with water so you can at least enjoy your time away. Other wise throw a couple jugs of water up front to drop your front end down. It is cheaper and quicker, and when your holiday is over, sort out your cavitation issues.
Best of luck

Too stinking hot for me and the fish!!!
Bummed! The best way to describe my season so far. What was suppose to be an epic summer of fishing and boating and fun with the kids, has turned in to a miserable summer for this guy! And it appears I am not alone, as the fish seem to be hating the heat as well in my honey hole. As of July 24th, we...

Re: A Surprise First
You are so screwed now!!!! I had a similar incident 3 years ago, and it has proven to be very expensive! What a fantastic write up, and a s a fellow Ottawa River angler, it has been the goofiest season inhabe experienced so far. I can't even tell you the last time I had a decent bass on board, and e...

Very interesting read, thanks for sharing the link!BackwoodsFishing wrote:I've heard the same thing about the island having a deep spot.
Also this is anot interesting read. Although it doesn't give a lot of specifics it shows that some fish must winter in the canal.

Re: McLaurin Bay
I just did it today. The water level is down, so I would recommend a pretty shallow draft, and a trolling motor the stretch from Rivier Blanche to the first Bay. Your main motor will do what I call turtle Alley, in between the two bays. Be careful, entering from R. Blanch. There is a log across the ...

Re: Fishing regulations and ignorance.
Two things stick out to me on this one. 1. Don't put "tournament" anglers above "weekend warriors" as stewards. They are no different than anyone else, they simply play in the competitive realm of fishing. They have no higher standard to live by than you do because they have a s...

Fishing regulations and ignorance.
T-minus 2 days and counting for my honey hole to open up Bass Season. Wahoo! Not because I am a die hard Bass angler, I am a multi species kinda guy, who just appreciates the fight of a nice smallie or bucket mouth! Last night, the young lad and I went out for a little bit of lure dipping, and we we...

Re: Crank bait vs a spinner bait?
I concur with Adam on where I utilize each one. I will also echo Don's comment and really want to emphasize the pause on retrieve! It is a crucial step often overlooked with crank and jerkbaits. Reel, reel, pause 1,2,3, jerk, pause,1,2,3 reel. Try variations and watch the magic happen. Especially in...
