Re: Nopefish
Yeah, that's a Goliath Tigerfish. I've never heard of them referred to as a Nopefish, but maybe it's just a different name. The Congo River system is the place!

Re: looking for boat advice and on Gananoque river waterway
I'm not familiar with the Gananoque River, but I wouldn't sweat the HP at all. Like the others have said, you can just back off the throttle when needed and run at less than wide open. Truth be told, the more HP you have, the easier you'll be able get on plane and hold it at lower RPM's. That's a go...

Re: Online prices for new boats?
I'd suggest throwing Alumacraft into the mix as well. I bought a 165 Competitor tiller a couple years back and absolutely love it. I was cross shopping mainly with Lund, although I also looked at Crestliner and Princecraft. Whichever way you go, I REALLY suggest looking at ALLOT of different boats. ...

Re: Extreme Float Tubing
Awesome! I did a Tarpon trip out of Miami a few years back. We were using 10 and 11 weights and while I didn't land any fish, I did sting a couple. That first surge after the initial take is like nothing I've ever experienced. It basically felt like an out of control train on the end of your line. O...

Re: Mercury Spitfire Prop
Generally speaking, you are going to gain 150-200 RPM for each pitch you go down. So, if you go from a 16 to a 14, your RPM's should go up 300-400 RPM. The problem you might run into without a tach to help you see where you are, is that you run the risk of running your engine above the max RPM's, wh...

Re: Mercury Spitfire Prop
lape0019 had it right banjo, that means your prop is 13 inches in diameter with a 16 pitch. In order to figure out what size you need, to have to know the maximum RPM's for your engine and the RPM's you are currently running. You want to be able to hit the max RPM's or very close to it with your nor...

Re: Mercury Spitfire Prop
What type of engine do you have? a 16P seems way too high for a 40HP . . . Anyway, the Spitfire props get great reviews. They are said to improve hole shot quite a bit over a three blade, provide better handling and less ventilation. There might be a slight loss in top end over the same pitch three ...

Re: Big changes in Quebec...
This is a pretty common regulation back in BC in the area I'm from. They tend to use it on lakes with sensitive Lake Trout populations or for lakes that are being managed as trophy fisheries. I haven't been back there in a couple of years so I'm not sure how it is working out, but I do know that guy...

Re: New World Record Musky
Just hope the guys keep it real because for some people, getting caught up in "records" goes straight to their head I agree. I must say, I have more admiration for someone who would release a fish of potentially world record proportions, than I would for someone who would harvest such a m...

Re: Cabelas in Ottawa! It's happening
For what it's worth, Ottawa cannot really be considered a small town. It's probably the 4th largest market in Canada behind Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. If you want to focus on the core fishing products that Cabella's sells, one could make an argument that Ottawa would be the third biggest marke...

Re: Cabelas in Ottawa! It's happening
I live in Kanata, this is not good news for my budget, LOL!!!! Seriously though, this is good news if true. I really do like Sail as well though and I like it as much (possibly more?) for the clothing and other stuff as I do for fishing gear. I also find that they have great sales at times and overa...

Re: Boat Launches on Mississippi Lake . . .
Good stuff trainguy! I wish I could tell you exactly where we were fishing, but that was my first time on the lake so I really don't know what I'd be describing! What I can say is that after we went under the bridge, there was a large shallow section (3-6 feet of water) that we went through and then...

Re: Boat Launches on Mississippi Lake . . .
Hey everyone, Just thought I'd post a quick update. We made it out to Mississippi for roughly 3-4 hours and while we didn't catch anything big, we at least got some fish to the boat. I think the total count was a couple of Largemouth, a Yellow Perch and a couple of Pike, one of which was reasonable ...
