Cool I met some kayakers this weekend who were fishing between the first chute and the Ottawa but they were mostly getting catfish. Some Bass and Pike though.

Ecolands park sounds like it would fit the bill. Last time I was there, there was small fishing dock at the park. Like the others have indicated colouration and patterns is a secondary characteristic for identification of basses. The extension of the jaw at or behind the jaw is a key primary characteristic.
