Re: Brown Trout Tactics

While I'm not really a brown trout fisherman, I wouldn't say they are more elusive or harder to catch, just that their stocking programs suck, and they get put in lakes that get pounded more than a red-headed stepchild.

Re: How do you find fishing spots without a boat?

I don't fish from shore, but you can catch walleye in Sainte-Anne-De-Belveue from shore. Also, the Ile-Perrot side, there is a fair amount of shore that can be fished behind the water treatment plant that is open to anyone. (Montee Sagala) And you can park your car right in the lot. The area is also...

Re: Minn Kota shear pins

The prop itself is fine as far as the blades go, it's where the pin would seat in the back of the hub that is all eaten away from the prop shaft spinning faster than the prop, with a bent shear pin.
Yeah, I think I'm going to have to score them to break in a non-destructive way.

Minn Kota shear pins

So I've managed to bung up 2 Wedless Wedge II props now because the shear pins don't break free, they just bend or don't break in the right spot and mangle the inside of the hub. Just using the pins than come in the kit. Am i using the wrong ones? Are there different grades? Thinking about filing/gr...

Re: Salmon River NY Advice

While I haven't been, guys that I fish Ganaraska with have, and prefer the Ganny to Pulaski.
Less combat/frustrations.... lots of combat stories.
With any of these places, there are always snaggers/combat.
Going during the week helps.

Re: Lake Trout: Jig or Troll?

Point the boat into the wind and use the trolling motor to stay in place... maybe drift a bit. I can still keep contact with the bottom vertically. In fact I've also done pretty well just hopping a jig along the bottom while slow on the trolling motor ~.5 MPH and less up and down transition areas. A...

Re: Lake Trout: Jig or Troll?

In the spring I will troll because they are active and roaming the shallow shoreline. Finding them is easy. Covering water is the priority. Later on I jig pretty much exclusively on structure like Cprince mentioned and work every inch. I've had a lot of luck with it this year so far. I would get a l...

Re: The "LAZY" fisherperson challenge

off the dock, tried casting with trolling rod w/ deep sea penn 309 reel. I was a kid... I was bored.
While trying to pick apart the massive birdsnest a 2lbs speckled trout grabs my worm dangling in the water... I pulled it in by hand.
Left the birdsnest for my dad to fix.
