A good place to catch Musky in town is under and around the Bronson bridge on the Rideau river. The area from the Rideau falls to the Bank street bridge is good for shore fishing.

If you dont want to go as far as Norway bay the launch at Quyon is free and good. The water is better above Ottawa but it has been cloudy since last weekends heavy rains. Also be careful on the Quebec side of the river you have all sorts of dead heads and cribs in the water. Head to the power lines ...

the whole river from Fitzroy to Constance bay is full of dead heads, more this year due to the lower water levels, i have been diving down rescuing musky lures off cribs and logs all summer.
Hopefully the water is clearing it was really murky on Wednesday.

I dont know if it is just me, but the gar population seems really healthy the last couple of years on the Ottawa, so much so i am afraid to go skinny dipping anymore since we caught one off of the dock!?!?!?!?!

Pike Derby in Quyon this Saturday. Register at the boat launch between 7 and noon.
$10,000 for the tagged pike.
