That sucks man. I feel for you twice they've stolen the gas tank right out of my boat, once they only had a 2 hour window and they somehow got to it right in the driveway of my house while I was home for a break. Ya, finding musky gear, let alone lefty musky gear in Ottawa, is sort of the where's Waldo for grown men, all my stuff comes from US, or out of town vendors at shows.

I've heard of getting a more accurate reading by measuring drag and not using the reel on a rod while measuring, this should swing the measurement upwards as the rod and line guides are no longer aiding the reel. There is one at Opeoongo Mountain Resort on Lake Clear Road, i beleive there is a small fee if you plan to park vehicle/trailer.
